The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland has praised Alex Iwobi’s performance for Everton against Watford on Saturday.
The Toffees came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Vicarage Road, with Theo Walcott scoring a last-minute winner.
Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players….
Iwobi started the game for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who also had to cope with Fabian Delph’s sending off.
However, the ex-Arsenal man was substituted in the 65th minute for Moise Kean, who went on to assist Walcott’s winner.
But Boyland believes that Iwobi was unlucky to be hooked by the former Real Madrid boss.
One can perhaps understand Ancelotti’s decision to haul Iwobi off purely because of his history in the first-team.
He has made 16 appearances this season but has scored just once, against Wolves in September.
Since then, he has failed to even provide an assist and he is perhaps not a player to turn a game on its head.
The introduction of Kean ultimately turned the game, as he played in Walcott for his winner.
Ancelotti can be happy with his decision.
Meanwhile, Everton fans have reacted to one man’s exit!
