According to The Sun, Southampton are set to reward Yan Valery for his fantastic performances with a new deal at St Mary’s Stadium – another indicator that Cedric Soares could be out the door in the summer?
What’s the word?
Well, The Sun reports that the Saints are concerned that they may lose the impressive Frenchman if they get relegated, particularly considering that his contract runs out at the end of next season.
Therefore, the south coast outfit are keen for the 20-year-old to pen a new deal with the club as soon as possible so that they won’t have to address the issue in the summer, when they could potentially be a Championship club as things stand.
The Sun understands that the deal set to be proposed to him by Saints will be structured so that the right-back can be persuaded to commit his future to them regardless of their league status next term.
The youngster is one of their most promising young stars and has shone under Ralph Hassenhuttl – are Southampton’s desperate attempts to keep him a sign that they do not trust Soares to return to his role on the right of defence once his loan spell at Inter ends?
Sorry Soares
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the San Siro outfit will want to keep the Portuguese at the club beyond his loan spell and so he could be set to become a spare part at St Mary’s unless another suitor is identified.
The 27-year-old hasn’t featured in Inter’s last three league clashes and so it would seem that they aren’t impressed with his performances since arriving in January.

Once a key player for the Saints, it would seem that Soares has now permanently lost his place to Valery and he will likely be offloaded in the summer if he isn’t cutting it for the Italian giants.
